Robin van Persie Withdraws From Netherlands Squad

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has pulled out of the Netherlands squad for friendlies against Japan and Colombia due to injuries. The Dutch official decided to withdraw Van Persie after he complained of toe and groin injuries, The Associated Press reports. Robin van Persie / Wikipedia Jordy Clasie also pulled out of the Dutch squad with a bruised foot. Norwich midfielder Leroy Fer and Davy Proepper of Eredivisie leader Vitesse Arnhem have been called up by Coach Louis van Gaal as replacements. The Dutch team will play against Japan on Saturday in Genk, Belgium, and against Colombia the following Tuesday in Amsterdam.
