PvdA: 'Groningen city council needs to persuade Bijenkorf to stay'

The political party PvdA wants to know what City council has done with the news of the Bijenkorf department store closing their Groningen branch in 2016. The PvdA is concerned that once again many jobs will be lost, after other major companies such as Menzis, Essent, NDC and more recently V&D's distribution center, have permanently closed the doors of their Groningen locations. The party wants to know whether a lack of suitable retail space in the city's center plays a part in the store's decision. Council member Carine Bloemhof shares with oogtv.nl that the city should accomodate enough employment for people with all different levels of education. De Bijenkorf,
