Famous Footballers to Join Amsterdam Pride

Ex-national team and Ipswich Town footballer Martjin Reuser announced that he will appear at the Amsterdam Pride next weekend, alongside other well-known Dutch football players. The former footballers will be the guests at the yearly event and they will ride a boat headed by the Dutch FA, the KNVB. They will parade through Amsterdam’s canals to support the acceptance of gay football players. He also said the head coach of the Dutch national team, Louis Van Gaal, and players Pierre Van Hooijdonk and Patrick Kluivert will likely to take part in the event. Other players expected to attend the parade are Aron Winter, Regi Blinker, Ronald de Boer, Bryan Roy and Michael Mols. “To be honest, I’ve played with a lot of football players and I’ve never played with a gay colleague or at least not someone I know of or had any suspicions about,” Reuser said. In 2008, some Dutch government officials atteneded the Amsterdam Pride for the first time. Source: Pink News
