Lucky Goal, says Robin van Persie

Manchester United’s Van Persie acknowledges that his winning goal in Manchester City last season was accompanied by luck.

The Dutch Striker scored a dramatic free-kick in a 3-2 win against the Citizens at The Etihad in December. “Wayne and I discussed what to do at the free-kick. Shoot or cross? My shot deflected off the wall past Hart. You can’t get luckier than that!” Van Persie said on the club's website. During his first season at Old Trafford, Van Persie achieved a total of 26 goals in the Premier League. One of his unforgettable winning goals was his opening strike in Chelsea last year. He scored four goals in his last two matches in west London. “I love playing against Chelsea and I’ve scored all my goals against them at Stamford Bridge. It’s a great place to play, and win,” The 29-year-old striker said. The Netherlands International signed with Manchester United in a £24m contract from Arsenal last summer.
