Tram rams cyclist

One person was injured Wednesday afternoon when a tram ran into a bicyclist. Paramedics brought the man to an Amsterdam hospital in an unknown condition. The accident took place on tram line 10 near the corner of Czaar Peterstraat and Oosterburgergracht in Amsterdam Centrum. Witnesses at the scene said the tram operator rang the bells and braked hard, but was not able to prevent the collision with the older cyclist. Some told police they did not believe the older man recognized that the tram coming. An investigation is ongoing and the cause has not been determined.
