Three arrested over bomb threat on train between Amsterdam & Hilversum

Three suspects have been arrested after a train was evacuated due to a report of a bomb, according to RTL Nieuws. Train traffic near Hilversum has been halted after a “suspicious situation” was reported to police. Police arrested the three suspects for making threats after one of them claimed there was a bomb on the train. The train has been declared safe.

NS has reported that there are no sprinter trains between Weesp and Naarden-Bussem, and or between Hilversum and Baarn. There are also no trains going towards Amsterdam or Amersfoort. This is expected to last until 6 p.m. All the passengers who were on the train were transported on buses. According to the NS website, train traffic has been suspended for “emergency services deployment."

Police received a report just before 3 p.m. from a person who was on the train. The train is currently at a standstill near the Hilversum Sportpark station. A police spokesperson would not give any information on what had happened. The spokesperson did confirm that it was not a hostage situation.

There are currently many police officers on hand at the scene. The safety region had put a quick response team on standby. These teams are often used for extremely violent situations.
