Police search for missing 39-year-old Dave from Geleen after van found in Lottum
Police are actively investigating the disappearance of 39-year-old Dave from Geleen after his white Opel Vivaro van was found in Lottum, police reported. The distance between Geleen and Lottum is approximately 40 kilometers.
Dave was last seen Thursday, October 9, around 4:00 p.m. on Jos Klijnenlaan in Geleen. He was driving a white van with license plate VVN-81-X, marked with the company name "Selecta." Police said he has not been seen or heard from since that day.
Dave is described as 2.04 meters tall, with a slim build, short brown hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing tight black jeans, a green sweater with a high collar, a dark green hooded jacket, white sports socks, and black-and-white Nike Air Max shoes. He also wears a silver-colored pair of glasses.
A police spokesperson said, “We are conducting a neighborhood investigation in Lottum following the discovery of the van.” Surveillance footage reportedly shows Dave exiting the vehicle at the location, a detail confirmed by police and by his mother on social media.
In addition to the neighborhood search, the Search and Rescue Team Netherlands (SAR), a volunteer organization, is assisting in Lottum. The missing man’s family had requested SAR’s support.
Earlier searches by SAR teams with tracking dogs in Meers, Meerssen, and near the De Driepoel fishing pond in Geleen yielded no results. Authorities also investigated a canal in Urmond. Fire department divers searched the water but found no trace of Dave.
