Suspected arson leaves two homes uninhabitable in Groot-Ammers
Two homes on Eiberplantsoen in Groot-Ammers were rendered uninhabitable Saturday night after a fire that authorities suspect may have been deliberately set. No injuries were reported, but the damage to both properties is extensive.
The fire broke out around 11:15 p.m. Emergency crews responded with multiple units, including two fire engines and a ladder truck. Firefighters from nearby Papendrecht were also called in to assist.
“The fire caused significant damage, and the residents of both homes cannot return at this time,” the local fire department reported.
Police said the blaze may have been intentionally ignited and are investigating a possible connection to an explosion that occurred at one of the residences earlier this year. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
