Two suspects arrested for fatal hit-and-run in Schijndel; 79-year-old woman killed
The police have arrested two suspects for a fatal hit-and-run in Schijndel. A 79-year-old woman died in the accident on Sunday night. The suspects, a 54-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, were arrested on Monday. The police are investigating who was driving.
The woman was camping in Schijndel and was walking her dog around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. When she didn’t come home, her husband went looking for her. He found her dead on the side of Landingsweg about two hours after she left their camper, Omroep Brabant reported.
The police found broken glass and parts of a black BMW X5 M at the scene of the accident. “Extensive detective work and the perseverance of colleagues in the investigation led them to Rooiseweg, where the car was found,” the police said. “The car shows damage that could be consistent with a collision.”
The police seized the car and arrested its owners. They are in custody for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
