National Sinterklaas arrival party to be on Texel this year

Sinterklaas will make his national arrival on Texel this year, arriving on November 15, NTR announced. It is the first time in over 40 years that the national arrival party will happen on a Wadden Island. The previous time was on Terschelling in 1984, NOS reports.

Five days before Sinterklaas arrives on Tesxel, Het Sintekrlaasjournaal will start. Merel Westerik will present the program, like last year, when Dieuwertje Blok stepped down after 23 years of presenting the show due to cancer. Blok died in March 2025 at the age og 67.

Stephanie van Eer will report on the quay during Sinterklaas’s arrival, taking over from Rachel Rosiel, who resigned this year. Jeroen Kramer will remain the second reporter.

Last year, the national Sinterklaas party was in Vianen, in the municipality of Vijfheerlanden.
