Dutch woman killed in skiing accident in Val Thorens, France

A 21-year-old Dutch woman died after a fall in the Val Thorens ski area, French media reported. The young woman fell while skiing on a blue slope and landed on the nearby competition slope.

The woman was unconscious when the emergency services arrived. First responders resuscitated her with a defibrillator before rushing her to the hospital in Grenoble, where she died.

Omroep Brabant reported that the woman was from Hilvarenbeek and worked as a bartender at the football club Hilvaria. “She worked every Sunday afternoon with enthusiasm and a beautiful smile behind the bar, where she was a familiar and valued face for many members of our club,” Hivaria said. “We will miss her warm personality and conviviality enormously.”

The cause of the woman’s fall is unknown. According to the manager of the ski area, the weather conditions were good when the accident happened.
