Frenchman arrested with 13 million euros worth of cocaine hidden in coffins
Dutch authorities arrested a 30-year-old Frenchman Friday evening after discovering two coffins filled with cocaine worth an estimated 13 million euros in a van he was driving.
The man was stopped on the A29 motorway near Numansdorp due to suspicious driving behavior, according to police. When questioned, he claimed the coffins contained two bodies but was unable to provide the necessary documentation.
The coffins were taken to a local funeral home, where they were opened. Instead of human remains, officials found sports bags filled with over 250 kilograms of cocaine.
A police spokesperson said the man was traveling from France to the Netherlands but was unaware of his final destination. "He was supposed to receive further instructions," the spokesperson stated.
The man remains in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities confirmed the cocaine has been destroyed.
