Transavia has still not responded to demands from technicians; protest set for Friday

Transavia has not yet responded to the demands set by the Dutch Association of Aviation Technicians (NVLT) for improved working conditions, including a salary raise. This was said by NVLT chairman Piet Visser, and the airline confirmed this. Earlier this week, the trade union had issued Transavia an ultimatum until Thursday night to prevent actions by aviation technicians. These are the people who, among other things, do aircraft maintenance.

If the airline does not respond to the demands by Thursday, then the first protests will happen on Friday at Schiphol Airport, Eindhoven Airport, and Rotterdam The Hague Airport. The first action is likely to be work stoppages. This could lead to delays for passengers due to flights being delayed.

"We first try to keep it in terms of length in a way that we send a signal, but do not hinder passengers too much. But at some point, you have to increase the pressure," said Visser. He does not yet want to say what time the actions will start.

A Transavia spokesperson has reported that the airline is waiting until the NVLT returns to negotiations. Visser said that the NVLT is looking into whether the two parties can speak to each other informally and hopes that Transavia will still respond to the demands. "If Transavia actually wants to enter into discussions, they must respond to the demands," he said.
