Dutch comedian Arjen Lubach and his team sign a deal with RTL to produce TV shows

Dutch comedian Arjen Lubach and his team are going to step over to RTL from VPRO. The TV show creator and comedian announced this on Friday on Instagram. His editors then confirmed the news to ANP.The last episode of Lubach’s evening show, De Avondshow met Arjen Lubach, aired on Thursday. RTL reported on Friday that Lubach will make a satirical show that is going to be broadcast daily.

The editors have not yet made any announcements about the exact content of the program. Lubach will provide an explanation about this on NPO Radio 1 on Friday afternoon.

The first broadcast of Lubach on RTL will be in the spring of 2025. Peter van der Vorst, director of content at RTL, said on Friday that he is “ecstatic” with the news. "Satire is an important part of Dutch society, and the independence of show creators is essential for this type of program. That is why Arjen and his team will, of course, be given complete freedom to make their program as they see fit over the next three years."

Lubach was a television show creator for ten years for the NPO and the VPRO. His most noteworthy segment was “America first- the Netherlands second” a satirical portrayal of Donald Trump after he had been elected as the President of the United States in 2016.

Producer Human Factor TV, who made both Zondag met Lubach and De Avondshow, will also produce the program on RTL. Janine Abbring, who was the final editor of Lubach's shows, will also be joining. The regular satirical employees, such as Tex de Wit, Diederik Smit, Jonathan van het Reve, and Soumaya Ahouaoui, will also work on the new program.
