Video: Jaguar cub born at Artis Zoo in Amsterdam

A jaguar cub was born at Artis Zoo overnight, the zoo in Amsterdam announced on Tuesday. Both mother and cub are doing well and can be admired via a live stream.

According to the zoo, the mother jaguar immediately started to lovingly care for her cub by licking it clean - which is an excellent sign. The cub will stay safely inside with its mother for a few weeks.

Artis said it was thrilled by its new resident. “This birth is important for the European species conservation program, as jaguars are classified as ‘vulnerable’ on the IUCN Red List,” the zoo said.
