11-year-old girl assaulted by grown man in Vlissingen

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for kicking an 11-year-old girl in the chest and knocking her to the ground on a Vlissingen street. The police caught the man shortly after the apparently random attack.

The police received the first report of the assault at around 9:30 p.m. The girl was walking with her father near the supermarket on Aagje Dekenstraat when the man attacked her out of nowhere. He kicked her on her chest, knocking her over. She hit her head against a steel pipe.

Paramedics checked the girl’s injuries at the scene. She did not have to go to a hospital.

The police arrested the suspect, a 25-year-old local, a short time later in the Bellamypark. He is in custody for questioning. Investigators asked witnesses to come forward.
