19-year-old tourist dies after being hit by tram in Amsterdam

A 19-year-old tourist died on Sunday after being hit by a tram on Martelaarsgracht in the center of Amsterdam, the Amsterdam police reported. It is still being investigated how the victim could fall under the tram.

The accident was reported at around 11 a.m. on Sunday. As a result, several emergency services were alerted, including several ambulances. A spokesperson for the Municipal Transport Company (GVB) announced that aftercare is also being offered for the tram driver. Tram traffic is being temporarily diverted due to the accident.
