Rotterdam court clerk arrested for hacking, leaking confidential information

A 36-year-old Rotterdam court clerk was arrested on Wednesday. They are suspected of hacking and breach of official confidentiality, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said on Thursday.

The clerk was released after questioning but remains a suspect. The police also arrested a 40-year-old suspected of involvement in the information leak. They were also released pending further investigation.

The OM did not say exactly what information the clerk allegedly leaked. A clerk has access to all documents in a legal case and is also present during hearings.

The Rijksrecherche, the department that handles internal investigations at public services like the police and the courts, will investigate the case further.

In an unrelated case, the OM also announced the arrest of a Rotterdam cop on Thursday. She was arrested last month for preparing to murder her ex-partner, the OM said.
