Vitesse receives another extension from KNVB for professional license
The Arnhem football club Vitesse has again been given more time to secure the professional license for next season. The independent professional committee for license matters of the KNVB did this earlier. The Arnhem football club submitted the documents on Friday after a week's delay.
"Based on the newly submitted documentation, the appeals committee concludes that not all requirements for obtaining a license have been met. For example, a balanced budget is currently lacking," the KNVB said in a statement.
The new deadline is set for 31 July at noon. The appeals committee aims to decide by 1 August.
Approaching start of the season
"It is particularly annoying for everyone who cares about Vitesse that we are still in the waiting room," says general manager Edwin Reijntjes. "Although I understand the process and am happy that we are still in the race, we must put everything on hold for next season. That is ironic since we want to talk about football 'normally' again, as it should be."
Reijntjes continues: "With the approaching start of the season, the organizational and technical challenges are immense. On the other hand, maintaining the license is the most important thing. That is what we are all working towards. And that belief is there too."
