Amsterdam warns Taylor Swift concertgoers of Arena camping ban

The City of Amsterdam issued a warning to people planning to visit pop star Taylor Swift's concerts that they are not allowed to camp around the Johan Cruijff Arena. Swift is making a three-day concert tour stop in the capital this week.

The city believes people may want to spend the night camping out in public spaces prior to the concerts in order to get the best spot in the general admission sections. Those areas are located on the floor around the three stages used during the show, and the catwalk connecting them.

Swift will be performing in the Johan Cruijff Arena on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Some 55,000 visitors are expected at each show.

In addition to a ban on camping, the municipality also specifically pointed out that the concerts are sold out, saying there is no point in coming to the stadium without a ticket. "The roof of the Arena will be closed. So you will not hear or see Taylor Swift or any part of the concert."

Flying drones over the stadium and surrounding area is also forbidden. The police will monitor the situation and can issue fines to those who do not comply with the rules.

Amsterdam is also taking measures to manage the flow of visitors. Extra metros will be running, and people will be admitted to the stations in "phases." Display boards on the concert grounds will also provide visitors with information about the crowds, and locations where people can find first aid workers.

The traffic lights around the Arena can also turn to a red light as soon as it gets too busy. These types of measures are not unusual during a sold-out event at the largest venues in the city, said a spokesperson for the municipality.
