Stabbing leaves one person dead in Amsterdam’s Jordaan neighborhood
A man was stabbed to death on Tweede Goudsbloemdwarsstraat in Amsterdam’s Jordaan neighborhood on Monday evening. The police arrested a 32-year-old man in a nearby home for the fatal stabbing.
The incident happened at around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, the police said. A man stabbed another man. The seriously injured victim managed to make his way to a café on Lindengracht to seek help. Café visitors called the police.
First responders tried to resuscitate the victim at the scene, but it was to no avail. He succumbed to his injuries a short time after their arrival.
Police officers spoke to witnesses, which led them to the 32-year-old suspect. He was arrested in a home on Goudsbloemstraat. Locals told AT5 that the suspect was the resident of the home and had acted aggressively earlier in the day.
The police performed trace evidence investigations in several places. Investigators asked witnesses or anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding the stabbing to come forward.
