Amsterdam planning Museumplein party for Ajax's 34th national title

The municipality of Amsterdam is planning a party on the Museumplein for if Ajax wins its 34th national title. While the last matches are only being played on Wednesday, the title will almost certainly go to the Amsterdam team after its 4-1 victory against FC Utrecht and competitor PSV's 1-0 loss against AZ on Sunday.

The results on both fields on Sunday left Ajax with 3 more points than PSV and a much better goal balance, +84 to +70, NU.nl reports. With only one round left, the championship is almost certainly Ajax's. The last Eredivisie round is Wednesday, with all nine matches starting at 7:30 p.m. Ajax will be playing against De Graafschap. PSV is taking on Heracles Almelo.

If Ajax takes the title, the celebration will happen on Museumplein on Thursday, starting at 4:00 p.m., the municipality of Amsterdam said in a statement. The municipality will start making arrangements on Monday.

"Although it will only be definitely clear on Wednesday whether Ajax will conquer the national championship, it is necessary to start on Monday with preparations related to public order and safety", the municipality said. "Local residents and entrepreneurs will be informed through various channels."
