Jogger, 18, deliberately hit by car, stabbed in Dutch village

An 18-year-old woman was injured while jogging in the village of Egmond aan den Hoef on Monday evening. She was deliberately hit by a car and stabbed in the chest, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.

The young woman was jogging over Rinnegommerlaan around 7:40 p.m. when she was hit by a dark colored car "out of nowhere", the police said. The driver rolled down the window and stabbed the victim in the chest, before driving off in the direction of Zeeweg.

The woman collapsed a short time later. Bystanders called the emergency services and the woman was taken to hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

The police are investigating the incident and call on witnesses to come forward. "Other information that may be of interest to the investigation is also welcome", the police said.
