Skeletal remains found in Gelderland forest; police investigating

Skeletal remains were found in a forest plot on the corner of Zomerweg and Zutphen Emmerikseweg in Humelo on Tuesday. The police launched a large investigation. Whether the remains are human, is not yet clear, the police said to De Gelderlander.

Eight police cars and the forensic investigation department were at the scene early on Tuesday evening. The investigation was halted at around 8:30 p.m., with a few officers staying behind to guard the area. The police will continue investigating on Wednesday morning.

The site is located around 70 meters from the road. How the police discovered the remains is unclear.

Local residents told De Gelderlander that there were barracks on that spot in the 1970s in which Turkish migrant workers stayed. It was called 'Kamp De Tol'. Whether this is related to the case is not clear.
