5,000 new homes coming to Amsterdam neighborhood

The municipality of Amsterdam is planning to build around 5 thousand new homes between Amstelstation and AMC. The homes will be located in the so-called Amstel-III area, between the Johan Cruijff Arena and IKEA, AT5 reports.

The Amstel III-area currently consists mainly of outdated office buildings. These will be demolished for the construction of new homes.

The neighborhood will also become greener. Hondsrugweg will make way for Hondsrugpark. The park will be a so-called 'free zone' - an area with more relaxed rules where residents and entrepreneurs can work to make the area attractive and cozy, according to the broadcaster.

Some of the new homes will be built around Bullewijk subway station. These will consists of several towers of about 100 meters high.

New restaurants and other hospitality related businesses will also be opened to make living in the new neighborhood more attractive.
