Erdogan calls on Dutch-Turks to be more politically active

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on European Turks, including Dutch-Turks, to become more politically active in their second home. "Take the nationality of the country where you live and take an active part in politics. Become a member of parliament", Erdogan called during an election meeting in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo, NU.nl reports.

Erdogan also called on his supporters to not betray Turkey or deny their origin. "Protect your religion and language well. If you lose that, you are lost", he said.

In April the Turkish president announced that there will be early elections in the country. He called on the around 10 thousand people who attended the election meeting in Sarajevo to give a powerful answer in the elections that is audible throughout Europe. "Are you prepared to give the terrorist organizations and their local and foreign accomplices an Ottoman turn?" he asked. "Are you prepared to support me with a record number of votes?"

After the elections, the Turkish political system will change. The Prime Minister post will be scrapped, and the president will be given more power. Turkish voters approved this change in a referendum last year.
