Zuid-Holland needs more gay cruising locations: Labour politicans

The PvdA in the Provincial States of Zuid-Holland thinks that the province should do more to facilitate sex in the outdoors. The party is concerned about the declining number of gay cruising spots in the province and thinks that the province should do more to protect them or create new ones, Anne Koning of the PvdA said to Omroep West.

"The province must offer a variety of recreational areas", Koning said. "The gay meeting place is one of them." According to her, these cruising spots are for two types of men, gay men who want an exciting sex date outdoors, and men who are insecure about their sexual orientation. She thinks it is the province's task to facilitate these meetings as much as possible. "If you don't facilitate this, the feelings won't just go away. That's not how it works."

Koning thinks that the number of men who use these cruising spots may be declining, as the internet offers an easy alternative. But she still thinks it is worth province's time to research. She also acknowledged that the gay cruising spots will have to be established well outside residential areas. "There are people who resent this and do not feel safe when they need to go past these meeting places."

The PvdA does not know whether there are spots where heterosexual people meet up for sex in the open air. But if there is a need for those, the province should supply, the party feels.
