Explosive at burglary scene prompts area evacuation order

A number of homes on Dolderstraat in Wageningen were evacuated at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning due to the discovery of a suspicious substance believed to be explosive. The substance was found after a break-in at a garage on the street, the Gelderlander reports.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called in to collect the substance. It is as yet unclear exactly what the substance is or whether it is in fact explosive. The police are investigating.

It is also unclear whether the burglars took anything from the garage.

Evacuated residents were allowed to return home at around 6:30 a.m.
