Dutch Moroccan "flabbergasted" by response to video on found iPhone

Groningen man Tobias Stamhuis, now known as the "sweetest Moroccan in the Netherlands", is overwhelmed by the stream of positive responses to a video he and a friend left on an iPhone they found on the street over the weekend. "I am really flabbergasted", he said to RTL Nieuws.

Tobias and a friend found the phone on the street and decided to leave a video for the owner before handing the phone to the police. They posted to the video to the cloud, in the hopes that the owner will check the cloud, see it and know to go ask the police for her phone. In the video he stresses that he is a sweet Moroccan. "The sweetest. Now I'm going to give your phone to a police officer. When you find this video on your iCloud, just go to a police station", he closes the video with a kiss and the words. "Remember, this is a Moroccan. And a Congolese. Remember."

Sabina Kram, the owner of the phone, posted the video on Facebook after getting her phone back from the police. She wanted to make contact with her heroes to thank them. The video went viral and has since been viewed over 700 thousand times.

Tobias quickly found out that he was the newest internet sensation. "I was called the morning after by a friend who told me the video exploded on Facebook", he said to the broadcaster. "I then contacted Sabina on Facebook. We got together and had a cup of coffee. She just wanted to give me a thank you, very nice!"

Tobias emphasized his Moroccan heritage on the video, because he wanted to show that there is another side to Moroccan-Dutch. "I am half Moroccan and we all know that Moroccans are often portrayed differently in the media. It is nice to be able to show the other side."
