'Allo 'Allo live show in Amsterdam a "tribute" to actor Gorden Kaye

This article was sponsored by 'Allo 'Allo, live at the Badhuis Theater

British actor Gorden Kaye, best known for his role as Rene Artois in BBC sitcom 'Allo 'Allo, passed away on Monday. With a second run of an 'Allo 'Allo stage production set for the Badhuis Theater in Amsterdam in February, the stage actors are devastated by his death.

Ben Evans plays Rene Artois on the Amsterdam stage, the character Kaye made famous in the early eighties. "Gorden Kaye was such a master of farce that it's hard not to draw inspiration from his years of work. I thought it was terribly sad when I heard he had passed away," Evans told the NL Times. "His passing puts our second performance run in a different light and we plan to make it a wonderful tribute for him."

"'Allo 'Allo went off the air 25 years ago but it's still popular here in the Netherlands. Many of our actors are fans of 'Allo 'Allo", Denis Burke, another actor in the show said to NL TImes. "The stage play is a wonderful adaptation written by the creators of the TV series, Jeremy Croft and David Lloyd. The first time we read it together we immediately understood it was a great challenge and really funny. Comedy can be even harder to deliver than tragedy - especially the sort of French-farce style of a show like 'Allo 'Allo."

As a tribute to Gorden Kaye, the Badhuis International Theater Group is giving away two tickets to the show to a lucky NL Times reader who clicks "like" on the Facebook post below. The free tickets will be for either the peformance on February 16th or February 17th, winners choice. 'Allo 'Allo will run from February 16th through the 26th, and from March 3rd through the 5th. Tickets may be purchased via the theater's website.
