Oranje drop World Cup qualifier 1-0 to France

After only three of the ten qualifying matches for the World Cup, things are already not looking great for the Dutch team. Oranje lost to France 1-0 in Amsterdam on Monday, RTL Nieuws reports. The Dutch team fell behind in the first half of the match, when France's Paul Pogba managed to surprise Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg with a long shot. The ball slipped through Stekelenburg's hands and a goal was scored. Just before halftime the Netherlands was denied a penalty when Laurent Koscielny touched the ball with his arm after a shot from Vincent Janssen. Coach Danny Blind is disappointed. "This is very disappointing. We put a a lot of energy in and stood well." he said after the match. This win makes France the favorite for the first in the World Cup group. In the best case scenario Oranje can take second place.
