Kidnapped Insiya's parents involved in custody battle: report

The parents of Insiya Hemani, toddler kidnapped from Amsterdam on Thursday, were in the midst of a custody battle. They were set to discuss the conflict in a court hearing on Friday, but it seems that father Shehzad Hemani decided not to wait for the law, Het Parool reports. The police believe Shezhad Hemani is responsible for his daughter's kidnapping and that he may be fleeing aboard with the 2-year-old girl. According to the newspaper, 37-year-old Hamani is a successful businessman in the Indian city of Mumbai. He is director of a steel company Conros, which also has branches in the United States and Romania. The companies are run from a central office in Mumbai. The company's telephone is not being answered, Het Parool reports. It is unclear whether Hemani ever lived or worked in Amsterdam. It is also unclear whether he's already managed to take Insiya out of the country.
