Turkey launches anti-Gulen investigation in Netherlands

The Turkish government hired lawyers to investigate supporters of Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen in the Netherlands. The lawyers claim they will be able to prove before the end of the year that the so-called Gulen-movement is a "mafia-like" organization in the Netherlands, the Telegraaf reports based on an interview with one of the lawyers. American lawyer Robert Amsterdam told the newspaper that the Gulen-movement is after gaining as much power and money as possible. He hired a Dutch law firm to investigate the movement in the Netherlands. Amsterdam refused to reveal the name of the firm due to security reasons. Amsterdam urges whistleblowers to come forward and help "unveil the awful truth behind the movement". According to him, "shocking evidence" was found in the United States showing fraud with subsidies for dozens of Gulen-schools. He expects the same kind of "criminal structures" to be revealed in the Netherlands. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes that Gulen is behind an attempted coup in Turkey in July.
