Med students sue HAN over internships

Some 50 students studying the Bachelor Medical Care course at the HAN University of Applied Science are taking their school to court. According to the students, their studies were massively delayed due to HAN's negligence in registering them on the database for accredited health workers, ANP reports. As the students weren't registered on the database, they were unable to get an internship and therefore couldn't graduate. The National Student Law Office is assisting them with their case. They are demanding 20 thousand euros in compensation per student, per academic year delayed. The Bachelor Medical Care course trains students to become paramedics, emergency service workers and anesthesia staff. Students at the Hogeschool Utrecht faced the same problem and also turned to the law office for aid. Early this year the court ruled that Hogeschool Utrecht is responsible for delaying the students' studies. The amount of compensation to be paid is still an ongoing trial on appeal.
