Netherlands sends 450 asylum seekers back to Germany

The Netherlands is sending 450 asylum seekers back to Germany, the Volkskrant reports based on a document from the German Ministry of Migration and Refugees. This is being done based on the Dublin Regulation, which states that asylum seekers must complete the asylum process in the country they first registered for asylum. According to the newspaper, these 450 people are half of the 900 asylum seekers Germany refused to take back in May. The Netherlands wanted to return them to Germany as their fingerprints were given there, but Germany stated that they did not register for asylum and were only passing through. The Netherlands fought this decision, successfully in half the cases. A spokesperson fro the Ministry of Security and Justice confirmed to the newspaper that the asylum seekers will be returning to the Netherlands' neighbor, calling it an "reasonable distribution".
