Rotterdam police investigate dozens of threats against Turkish-Dutch

The police and judiciary in Rotterdam are currently investigating several dozen threats reported from the Turkish community in the city since a failed coup in Turkey mid-July, the police announced on Tuesday. So far no arrests were made, ANP reports. Since the attempted coup on July 15th, tensions have been rising between supporters of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his rival Fethullah Gulen. This is also true for the Turkish community in the Netherlands. Rotterdam saw several demonstrations after the attempted coup. On Tuesday the Rotterdam triangle of municipality, police and prosecutor got together to discuss the turmoil in the Turkish community in the city. The police are keeping an eye on events, including on social media and community officers are keeping an eye on whats happening in the neighborhoods. The police call an all victims of threats to report them tot he police. This can be done anonymously if preferred.
