Schiphol based easyJet pilots striking again on Thursday
Netherlands based pilots working for easyJet are striking again on Thursday, pilots union VNV announced on Wednesday night. The strike started at 5:00 a.m. and will continue until 10:00 a.m. "Again easyJet passengers will have to take disturbance into account", the union said, ANP reports.
The over 70 easyJet pilots based at Schiphol are striking for a better collective bargaining agreement. They want paid sick leave, more rest between flights and a better pension plan.
According to VNV, these actions will continue until easyJet meets the requirements. The union added that the airline made agreements with French pilots that are much better than what the Dutch pilots were offered.
EasyJet responded in a press release that they are "disappointed" over the "unnecessary actions". "This is detrimental to our passengers traveling through Schiphol." According to the airline, significant improvements were already made in "a fair and market-based collective bargaining agreement for the pilots." The airline added that they are doing everything in their power to reduce the impact of the strike on their passengers.
This is the third easyJet pilot strike in the Netherlands in a short period.
