New mayor of Eindhoven to be King’s Commish John Jorritsma

John Jorritsma, currently Commissioner of the King in Friesland, will be mayor of Eindhoven starting in September. He is only the second person in Netherlands to ever make the move from King's commissioner to mayor, BNR reports. Jorritsma was Commissioner of the King in Friesland for eight years. He carefully considered whether or not to move, he said to BNR. "I am now 59 years old. I've had an incredible amount of fun fulfilling the Commissioner role in Friesland for eight years. I may even do it till my 70th, but I don't think Friesland will benefit from it. It is also good for me to switch one more time", Jorritsma said to the broadcaster. He believes that he still has plenty of drive left in him. "Through mayoralty in Eindhoven I can still make an active contribution to society", he said.
