EasyJet pilots striking in Amsterdam today

EasyJet pilots stationed in Amsterdam are striking again on Monday morning, pilots union VNV announced. This third strike is taking place between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., ANP reports. The pilots are striking for a better collective bargaining agreement. They want guaranteed sick leave pay, more time to rest between flights and a better pension regulation. The late notification for the strike was to prevent easyJet hiring temporary pilots to fly during the action, as they did in a previous labor action. According to VNV, more actions will follow if the airline does not address the pilots' demands. The union regrets any inconvenience to travelers, but lays the blame at easyJet's feet. "We are determined to conclude a fair collective bargaining agreement for easyJet pilots, even if it means that the conflict and the resulting operational disruptions drag on for months." a spokesperson said to ANP. EasyJet is disappointed by the new strike, the airline said in a statement. "This is detrimental to our passengers traveling through the airport We are particularly disappointed by this unnecessary action because we already achieved significant improvements in a fair and market based collective agreement for our members." The airline expects that at least half its scheduled flights will continue as planned, though some flights will be cancelled or delayed due to the late notice.
