Hague cyclist rescues pedestrians from wet feet in flooded station tunnel

Many a pedestrian was grateful to The Hague's own superhero who saved them from wet shoes and feet by cycling them through the flooded Holland Spoor tunnel on a cargo bike on Thursday morning, AD reports. "I do it simply because I like it", the man, who preferred not to give his name, said to the newspaper between trips. "This morning I took on the cargo bike and I take people back and forth." He borrowed the cargo bike from a bicycle storage at the station. The owner knows him quite well. "I came here at half past eight and he was already busy. He is not to be stopped", he said to AD. "I think he has to go to work, but he finds this a lot more fun if you ask me." The tunnel is the only quick way to get from one side of the station to the other. Up to three people could squeeze onto the cargo bike at a time. Those in too much of a hurry to wait for the bike, had to grit their teeth, take off their shoes and wade through the ankle deep water.
