FC Utrecht striker Boymans investigated for elbowing

The prosecutor for professional football launched an investigation into FC Utrecht striker Ruud Boymans behavior during the away match against Heracles Almelo on Saturday. Boymans is accused of elbowing Heracles defender Mark-Jan Fledderus in the last minute of the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw. According to NU, referee Martin van den Kerkhof did not see the incident, which means the prosecutor has to investigate. The preliminary investigation will be done based on video footage and photos. FC Utrecht and Boymans have until noon on Wednesday to send the prosecutor their statements. In the coining weeks FC Utrecht is playing against NEC, Ajax and De Graafschap. On April 24th the Utrecht team is facing Feyenoord in De Kuip for the KNVB Cup finals.
