Calls to lynch black footballer Kenneth Vermeer shown in darts match

Feyenoord goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer was once again the target of insults. This time at the Premier League Darts in Newcastle. When Phil Taylor and James Wade came up, spectators held up signs insulting the Feyenoord player and calling for him to be lynched. Photos and videos of this incident, in which the signs can clearly be read, are circulating all over Twitter. The signs called for Vermeer to by hanged and linked him with Nazi collaborators NSB. Ajax fans frequently refer to themselves as Jews, despite having no historical Jewish association, and it prompts antisemitic chants from opposing teams' fans. On Sunday Vermeer was also the target of rowdy spectators during the Feyenoord vs Ajax match in the Amsterdam ArenA. An Ajax fan from Wageningen lynched a doll made to look like Vermeer, while other people in the crowd shouted offensive chants directed at him. The Wageningen man was arrested immediately after the match, but released again on Tuesday. The Public Prosecutor is charging him with threats. Professional football's independent prosecutor is also investigating these incidents, according to the Telegraaf. https://twitter.com/FRFCRaoul/status/697913067414409220
