Report: Thalys train jumper in custody again; clerk bitten in shoplifting attempt

The teenager that caused a commotion at Rotterdam Central Station by barricading himself in a Thalys train in September, is once again in custody. He was arrested for attempted shoplifting in Oude Pekela, Groningen, during which he bit a clerk, newspaper AD reports. Following the Thalys debacle, during which Rotterdam Central Station was closed for several hours, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called in, and the then 16 year old Mouaz was eventually removed from the train by a SWAT team, Mouaz spent three days in custody for questioning. Once it was determined that he was not a terrorist, only a teen asylum seeker trying to travel without a ticket, he was released and taken into an asylum center in Oude Pekela. Early in October Mouaz tried to shoplift candy and deodorant from the local Jumbo supermarket. A cashier confronted him and the incident turned into a scuffle. Mouaz spat on one cashier, headbutted a second employee and bit open a third employee's hand, according to AD. He was finally overpowered when several staff members jumped on him. The teen spent a night in custody and was released again with a summons to the juvenile court. The young Tunisian was transferred to an asylum center in Drachten. In the mean time, he also left Zeeland and was arrested again. He is currently in custody in a youth institution in Harreveld, AD reports Why he is currently is unclear, according to the newspaper, but foundation Nidos confirmed that the boy is under their guardianship. Nidos takes care of minor asylum seekers. "For privacy reasons we cannot say anything about this matter."
