EasyJet plans continued expansion at Schiphol Amsterdam

British budget airline EasyJet is planning to continue its expansion at Schiphol Airport. The airline plans to expand to six permanent aircraft at the airport in the summer of next year, NRC reports. Since EasyJet opened a base at Schiphol earlier this year, with three permanent aircraft and a few containers as crew center, the number of aircraft stationed at the airport has increased to five. The Amsterdam base accounts for 120 jobs, which will increase to 240 next year. Since March the budget airline has carried 600 thousand passengers to and from Schiphol. William Vet, the Netherlands manager of EasyJet, told NRC that the airline contributes considerable added value to the Schiphol network. "We bring passengers from all over Europe for long-distance flights. Thanks to the internet, passengers can easily put together their won journey with different companies."
