Vote fraud investigation targets PVV European parliament member
The European Parliament is investigating PVV member Marcel de Graaff's voting behavior in the European Parliament on Wednesday. It is suspected that he cast a fraudulent vote on behalf of fellow party member Marine Le Pen.
This is according to other European Parliamentarians who saw it happen, RTL Nieuws reports
The European Parliament has launched an investigation. So far the administrative records show that Le Pen cast two votes, despite not being present in the hall. It is illegal in the European Parliament to cast a vote on behalf of another parliamentarian, even one from your own party.
A spokesperson for the European Parliament stated that De Graaff's fraudulent vote was caught on camera, but that statement was later withdrawn.
If the accusations against De Graaff can be proven, he may face a punishment ranging from a reprimand to suspension.
