Animal munching electric cable leaves 34,000 in Maastricht without power

A stone-marten snacking on a cable left 34 thousand homes in and around Maastricht without power on Monday night. The little creature chewed through a cable at a transformer station in the district Limmel, mechanics of network manager Enexis confirmed to 1Limburg. The power outage lasted between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Monday night. It affected the eastern part of Maastricht and neighboring villages in the municipalities of Eijsden-Margraten and Valkenburg aan de Geul. Enexis mechanics managed to solve the problem and restore power within an hour. It is unclear whether the stone-marten survived his dangerous snack.
