"Bored" hacker gets community service, fine for hacking Jumbo computers

A company inspector working at the Jumbo supermarket chain has to pay 30 thousand euros in compensation for hacking into nearly 100 corporate laptops. The court in Den Bosch made this ruling on Monday, Omroep Brabant reports. The 37 year old man from Helmond was also sentenced to 120 hours of community service and a suspended prison sentence of three weeks. The suspect was not given a prison sentence because he started seeing a psychologist on his own initiative. The man told the court that he hacked into the business computers "out of boredom". The man gained access to the login details of other employees and private email addresses through these hacks. The management of Jumbo suspended the man immediately after it became clear that he was responsible for the hacks. The Jumbo supermarket chain has received several bomb threats over the past few months. The police believe the suspect is a man between 20 and 40 years of age, with knowledge of explosives, electronics and computer systems. This case does not seem to be connected to the hacker.
