Armenian family deported after 8 years in Netherlands

An Armenian family that has been living in the Netherlands since 2007 are being sent back to Armenia. The family applied for a residency permit under the children's amnesty regulation, but was refused. The family then appealed, but on Wednesday the court in Arnhem decided that they will not be allowed to stay, NU reports. According to the court, the family spent too long off the radar of the proper authorities - agencies such as the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers - and have therefore not met the conditions of the children amnesty regulation. The family had been living in Lintelo, Gelderland. They were on the radar of the municipality of Aalten, the food bank and the church, but according to the court, this is not enough.
