More money available to keep people working longer
Another 20 million euros have been made available to keep more people working productively for longer, Minister Lodewijk Asscher of Social Affairs wrote to the Tweede Kamer, lower house of parliament, on Tuesday.
This money comes from the European Social Fund. It will be used, for example, to keep employees healthy or retrain them in a timely manner.
The Deputy Prime Minister finds it important that workers gain new knowledge and skills, especially to compensate for the many changes in the labor market. TNO figures in 2014 based on the National Working Conditions Survey showed that employees who indicate that they lack new knowledge and skills, more often showed symptoms of burnouts.
Companies and institutions can submit an application for some of this extra money at the Social Affairs Agency between October 19th and November 13th. An applicant can receive up to 10 thousand euros, provided that he contributes half of the subsidy himself.
