Anti-EU Wilders forms European Parliament faction

The PVV has managed to get enough parties and members together for a faction in the European Parliament, PVV leader Geert Wilders announced on Twitter on Monday. Forming an official faction provides financial support and more influence in the European Parliament. On Twitter Wilders calls the faction forming great news and a historic moment. He will hold press conference in Brussels at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday to announce details of the faction formation.

Groepsvorming in Europees Parlement is gelukt! Geweldig nieuws en historisch moment. Morgen 11.00 uur persconferentie in EP Brussel! #pvv

In the European Parliament the PVV is currently working with Marine Le Pen's French National Front, the Italian Lega Nord, the Austrian FPO and the Belgian Vlaams Belang, accounting for 37 Euro Parliamentarians, NOS reports. To form a faction you need at least 25 members from 7 EU countries. It is not clear which other parties will be joining the faction. Reportedly it involves a British ex-UKIP member and one of Hungary's extreme-right wing party Jobbik. Wilders and Le Pen also tried forming a faction in the European Parliament last year, but failed to get the required number of parties together.
